How We Do Things
Producing quality firewood all starts with choosing the best type of wood. All of Pro Logs is hardwood, as this is the best for burning on both open fires and stoves.Pro Logs carefully select wood from sustainable sources as locally as possible. Once we have chosen the best timber to produce firewood, it is stored at our yard in stacks ready to be processed into logs. Our Pro Logs team cut the timber into rounds either 8, 10 or 12 inches long. Splitting the wood down allows moisture to be released and this starts the drying process. The firewood logs are stored in large wooden boxes with slatted sides - this allows air flow. The boxes are then stacked in our barn and the firewood logs are seasoned for a minimum of 1 year (or until they meet our quality control standard).Pro Logs also kiln dry logs, further reducing the moisture content, resulting in an even better quality product. Our kiln is powered by waste wood and sawdust, helping to keep our carbon footprint to a minimum.
Storing your firewood logs properly is crucial to ensuring you maintain the quality. Keeping your logs well covered from rain, whilst allowing plenty of air flow is the best way to do this. A Pro Logs wood store will keep your firewood logs in perfect condition.
Pro Logs prides itself in the production of high quality firewood. Any wood that you burn should have a maximum moisture content of 25%. At Pro Logs we aim to use high quality timber to produce a clean and user friendly product. Our storage barns ensure that all or our logs are well seasoned. Our state of the art kiln drying facility means that we only deliver ready to burn logs.
Pro Logs recommends that your chimney is swept annually to ensure safe and efficient burning of solid fuel. Our quality control process guarantees minimal creosote deposits, extending the life of your appliance.
